Michaël Aklin is an associate professor of economics and holds the Chair of Public Policy and Sustainability at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), which he joined in 2023. Before joining EPFL, Aklin was an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He obtained his PhD from New York University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Aklin's research, published in two books and over thirty scientific articles, focuses on the political economy of sustainable development and the public policies needed to make it possible. In addition to his academic research, Aklin frequently collaborates with industry, governments and non-profit organisations to find effective solutions to pressing societal problems.
